Goodwill of Southern Nevada Thrift Stores to Support Spread the Word Nevada in August
Care-to-Care program invites Goodwill customers to support early childhood literacy
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (July 30, 2025) – Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s (Goodwill®) yearlong 50th anniversary celebration continues with an August fundraising campaign that will raise at least $5,000, and up to $10,000, for Spread the Word Nevada, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing childhood literacy within low-income communities by changing lives one book at a time.
The in-store fundraising effort is part of the Goodwill Care-to-Care Nonprofit Fundraising Partnerships program, which invites Goodwill thrift store customers to contribute a dollar or more at checkout to support both Goodwill training scholarships and a monthly local nonprofit organization.
“Our workforce development professionals well know the power of literacy to drive careers forward, be it at Goodwill or in any number of vocations,” said Goodwill of Southern Nevada President and CEO Rick Neal. “Through our partnership with Spread the Word Nevada, we are proud to support a mission that lays the groundwork for future success.”
“Spread the Word Nevada has become a statewide force for change as we ensure every child, regardless of background, has access to books, literacy support, and the opportunity to thrive through reading,” said Spread the Word Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Lisa Habighorst. “The funds raised at Goodwill will help us reach underserved children ages birth to 5th grade through in-school programming and community based services.”
Goodwill thrift store customers can contribute to Goodwill training scholarships and Spread the Word Nevada literacy programs by donating a dollar or more during checkout.
