Young Man Takes Steps Toward Employment

Max, a 21-year-old with a neurological disability, was referred to Goodwill’s Community Based Training (CBT) program by VR Nevada to assess his readiness for employment.

During a 20-day assessment split between retail and warehouse assignments, Max’s Goodwill employment trainer immediately took note of his positive, can-do attitude. However, he struggled with memory retention and following instructions, and relied on his trainer and coworkers to give him frequent reminders during daily tasks.

Although Max didn’t pass his CBT assessment, he immensely enjoyed his time at the store and warehouse—so much so that he decided on a new goal to work toward: joining the team at Goodwill.

Goodwill recognized Max’s positive, can-do attitude.
